Glenwood is truly the best
of two worlds! Nestled in the foothills of the Missouri River,
Glenwood offers the serenity of a small town and yet is only
minutes away from opportunities afforded a larger metropolitan
area. A strong attraction for those who work in Omaha is that
one leaves the work traffic behind when directed east towards
the hills.
Glenwood, the county seat, with a population of 5,200, is
a growing community with a progressive yet friendly business
district. A picturesque downtown square surrounds a court
yard of trees and shrubs framing the Mills County Court House
and renown clock tower.
Meet the people . . Say "Hello!" We think you
will be pleasantly surprised.
Glenwood Lake Park, the pride of Glenwood, offers area residents
a chance to "kick back and enjoy" a beautiful picnic
area surrounding a scenic Glenwood Lake. Adjacent to the
park are newly constructed horseshoe pits along with a five
acre recreation and sports complex, complete with tennis
courts, ball diamonds, and soccer fields.
Sports and recreation can also be found at the Glenwood
Golf Course, Pony Creek Recreational Area as well as the
Glenwood Sports complex.
Glenwood
Churches
Glenwood is also served by sixteen churches (one Roman Catholic and fifteen
Protestant), some old, some new. The old retain the foundation on which
our community was built while modern new churches show our commitment
to the future.
Community
Activities
Glenwood also has it's own local theater group, the Mills Masquers. The
group performs comedies, melodramas, and musicals several times each
year, utilizing the amphitheater and their newly constructed playhouse.
